Just an alert:
Beginning this Monday (August 25), CNBC will be having the first US airing of the British version of The Apprentice with Sir Alan Sugar as host. One thing that is noticably different just from the promos for it on CNBC (that I have been catching during Olympics coverage) is the bleeping that was put into just those.
The UK version is scheduled to air at 10:00 PM ET/PT and at 7:00 PM PT/1:00 AM ET early Tuesday. _________________ Walt

Thanks for the reminder Wally. I had seen the announcement while watching the Olympics on CNBC but forgot about it.
Also congrats to Elizabeth on getting her Masters. I won't pretend to know what spiritual psychology is, but a Masters from UCLA is impressive. |

Very much enjoyable, and the show was much like season one of the original in that regard: Going back to the basics, selling flowers.
The men did a much better job of that. _________________ Walt

| I know it's probably just me, but I found the language hard to follow. The terms they use and the way the English say things just threw me off. Does anybody know what season this is for the show? |

First season, originally filmed in 2004 and aired in 2005. _________________ Walt

Schedule alert:
This Monday's episode is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT and 11:00 PM ET/8:00 PM PT because of it being Labor Day as CNBC is not on their normal schedule that night.
Also, it looks as the repeats of "Apprentice UK" on CNBC will be on the weekend at these times:
Saturdays at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT
Saturdays at 11:00 PM ET/8:00 PM PT
early Sundays (late Saturday night) at 12:01 AM PT/3:01 AM ET _________________ Walt

| Is it my imagination or am I watching a repeat of Trump's season 1 and 2 of The Apprentice on CNBC? The first task was selling flowers, which is the same as selling lemonade in season 1, then they made a a toy which they did in season 2 when Bradford lead the women to a win, and next week they're buying things, which they again did in season 1. Sir Sugar needs to come up with better ideas. I have to say however, that there doesn't seem to be the corporate sponsorship that the American version has. The first season of the American version didn't have much but it grew as the seasons' progressed. Since the British version has been around since 2004, I would have thought they would have followed the same pattern. |

Not surprising in this case, as what we are seeing was the show's initial season in the UK, which originally aired there in February 2005 (as previously noted above). I actually missed episode two due to it airing early due to CNBC having to pick up US Open Tennis coverage (as USA Network I believe is contractually committed to carry WWE Raw, which I believe is USA Network's highest-rated show on Mondays at 9:00 PM ET/PT (even if it did move to Sci-Fi Channel last Monday) and I'll have to see the repeat on Saturday. _________________ Walt

I'm afraid I've just missed Week 4 of The Apprentice UK. The reason being that because of the windstorm that hit the area I'm in back on Sunday, I've lost power. I've regained power two days ago, but my cable (along with the cable of 75% of the population in my area who is a client of Insight) is down and. In other words, I'm without any means of watching TV until my cable provider fixes the problem, and it won't happen until sometime this Monday. Can anyone answer the following questions that I have of TAUK below?
1. Who were the PMs of Week 4?
2. What was the task?
3. Which team won/lost?
4. Which of the applicants were "fired"? |

No one saw week four of the show:
CNBC did not air the show at all on Monday due to extra coverage of the world markets following the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the purchase of Merrill Lynch by Bank of America and the near-collapse of AIG (CNBC was airing Squwak Box Europe both late Sunday and late Monday nights in the 1:00 AM ET hour). CNBC did not air the show Saturday (9/20) either.
It appears because the show did not air on Monday, CNBC chose not to air it at all this week and will air the fourth episode this coming Monday and run it a week behind schedule the rest of the way (my cable guide does have the show listed for Monday). _________________ Walt

Update for those who watch in the US on CNBC:
Because of the market bailout failing, for the second time in three weeks, there was no airing of the show here as CNBC was airing a four hour special on the fallout from the bailout package failing to pass and CNBC airing Squwak Box Europe in the 1:00 AM ET slot as a result. This likely means there also will be no show on Saturday, with the next episode now airing next Monday (10/6) and the show now running two weeks behind its original planned schedule here. _________________ Walt

| It looks like TA UK was postponed again last night. I really want to see the next episode. Not because I'm a great fan of the show, I'm just tired of this economic meltdown every week. |

It appears CNBC has for now dropped The Apprentice UK entirely due to the current Wall Street crisis.
CNBC has a new, two-hour nightly show on the financial crisis from 7:00-9:00 PM ET/4:00-6:00 PM PT, which has forced CNBC to find other time slots for On The Money, which before the crisis had the 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT slot. That in turn likely forced CNBC to for now ditch the UK version, which I suspect will return once this financial crises eases. _________________ Walt

Good to hear from you, Elizabeth. Take care in Kenya. I think things have settled down recently but there was some unrest in the country a short time ago.
