Last night on Larry King, Trump said the celebrity edition would begin filming next week. I'm assuming it's in New York but he didn't say so it could be in LA. He said there were fourteen celebrities participating. The only name I know confirmed is Charisma Carpenter, that's enough to make me watch, although Carmen Electra is also rumored.

And the fact it's only about to start filming now makes me think it's only a celebrity edition because the renewal came so late.

Had it been a regular version, it's likely filming could have been delayed further, forcing filming into the middle of the holiday season, which with regular candidates would have likely created problems, especially with many more tourists in New York likely catching them in the act of filming as opposed to celebrities where it can look like they are filming a movie as opposed to a Reality series.

Trump did say it was the celebrity edition. He also said that he is signed for two seasons of TA. So there should be another to follow, which might not be a celebrity show.

I'm very interested to see how the celebrity edition comes to life. I hope they pick celebrities who have serious businesses to run... and they let them try to get their own business off the ground. Anything else sounds like Surreal Life Smile

It does Elizabeth.

Like I said though, I think the celeb edition came out of necessity, since with the late renewal they likely could not have everything in place in time to film a complete season of the show before the holiday season crept up in New York, something they can more easily (in my opinion) get away with using celebs during the holiday season for reasons already noted above.

Elizabeth,

I'm with you all the way on this. I would like this to be a SERIOUS pursuit for any of the celebrities in trying to land a job with the Trump Organization. I don't want it to be the Surreal Life nor anything comical/unprofessional.

I can imagine what you and the other former Apprenti had to go through and the celebrities should not be given any special treatment. Donald, of course, needs to be fair with everyone and that the celebrities should try to perform and master the tasks like you and the others had to.

It will be interesting to see what happens on the next season indeed. Glad to hear that TA is signed on for two more seasons (if I read correctly). Admittedly, I got hooked on the show like a lot of others since the show started 3 years ago and despite the declining ratings, I still enjoy tthe show. It has made for interesting TV, but I realize what the contestants are up to.

I don't think Donald would change, but like I said, he needs to keep his ego in check and not embarrass the contestants with any negative criticism. Constructive is fine, but to demoralize people? NO!

The celebrity edition is just to win $250K for their charity of choice. They're not competing for a job. Based on some of the names rumored, Carmen Electra, Pete Rose, Joan Rivers, George Foreman, etc., I don't see this as a very serious business edition. I think the Surreal Life would be a closer desciption.
Trump definitely said he is signed for two season of TA, so we'll have to see what the second season will be. Maybe All-Stars???

OH MY GOD! When I checked my e-mail on AOL, I noticed the celebrities that will likely to be on the next edition of the Apprentice! VERY INTERESTING!! But guess who is in the mix? I couldn't believe it!!! OMAROSA!!! MY GOODNESS!! Glad to see she is getting a second chance. I also read Gene Simmons (hey, Gene, don't stick your fingers in anyone's ear! I remember when he stuck his finger in Erin Elmore's left ear during the Jock Video task. Admittedly, Erin is a cutie, but she deserved respect after what Gene did, playful or not!), Carol Alt (married to one of my favorite all time New York Ranger Hockey Players, Ron Greschner), Marilu Henner (of course, her claim to fame is from "Taxi!"; maybe Danny DeVito should be included in Trump's latest mix). Sorry, Paris Hilton is out, according to what I read.

I am not sure if this is finalized, but as Arte Johnson once said on NBC's Laugh-In as the little German Soldier, it will be "VERRRRYYYY INTERESTING!!"

Only time will tell. I hope they would have another season for promising candidates from the past. I don't know if it will happen and if the candidates want to take time out from their busy schedules. Hey, Elizabeth, if that ever did happen and Trump wanted to choose you (I recall that he did say that he heard you did a great job helping out Kelly Perdew's Polo Matchup in Connecticut during the Finale of Season 2, which you did!), would you try again? I liked the way you stood up to Raj and John after you felt that they were slacking off and you put your foot down!

I guess this confirms that the All-Star Apprentice will be in NYC. I don't know about anybody else, but if Lennox Lewis and Big Pussy Pastore asked me to buy a hot dog, I definitely would not say no.

Now I'm thinking it was a celebrity version because the writers strike.

It would not surprise me if NBC rushes this and moves up the premiere to try and compensate for the possible loss of some shows because of the strike and now has an Apprentice 8 rushed into the planning stages with regular candidates that could start filming as early as January for a March premiere if the writers strike goes into December.

I'm guessing any decision made by the networks over the past three months, at least, have ben driven by the possibility of a writers strike. I think the last strike lasted 5 months and cost $1 billion. There are rumors that Amazing Race 13 has already been approved and will film early next year for a spring viewing.

There are also rumors there will for the first time be a late winter/early spring run of Big Brother that would begin in late February and air several nights a week to fill time slots (although CBS might want to start it earlier, there is too big of a risk of heavy rain in So. Cal until late February to warrant doing it before then).

FOX would be hurt the least by a writers strike because its biggest hit is of course American Idol, which is not affected by the writer's strike and I suspect would be stretched to three and even four nights a week if the strike is prolonged.

Well we now know the date for the start of what is being called Celebrity Apprentice, Thursday, January 3rd at 9 PM. Interesting that it moved back to Thursday. My only comment on the list of celebrities is that Charisma Carpenter was to appear but her name is not on the final list. However with Jennie Finch, Carol Alt and Tiffany Fallon to look at, the hotness factor is still very high.

The premiere date suggests that a lot of NBC's shows are going to be out of new episodes rather quick. If that happens, I would not be surpised if around Christmas NBC gets Burnett to rush an Apprentice 8 into production for airing as early as March, possibly two nights a week then.

I see where the next Celebrity Apprentice is due to air March 1st with a two hours special. Looking at the "celebrity" names, it may take viewers two hours to figure out who they are. I liked the old version much better.

Yes, they are:

I think the plan is to go two hours on Sunday nights in part to resist the temptation of NBC to stick repeats of The Law & Order Franchise on Sunday nights, with the delay to March 1 so it begins after all of the major events in January and February ("24" premiere and Golden Globes this week, AFC Championship Game January 18, Super Bowl February 1, Grammy Awards mid-February, NBA All-Star Game on February 18 and the Oscars on February 25).
